Dasarata

Dasarata is one of the leaders of the Hindu epic Ramayana, he is the father of Sri Rama, the main character the protagonist in the epic. Dasarata is the king of Kosala kingdom centered on Ayodhya. He is the king of the merciful. Dasarata was the son of Aja, descent and are in a class Ikswaku Raghuwangsa or Surya dynasty.
During his youth, Dasarata like to hunt and have a tremendous archery skills. One night, hunting Dasarata into the woods, on the banks of river Sarayu, he heard the elephants are drinking, regardless of the target, he was immediately released the dart. However, Dasarata surprised, because the elephant suddenly groaned with the human voice. He then approached the target, he saw a young monk lying helpless. Young man named Srawana
Srawana Dasarata angry, she actually was looking for water to be given to parents who are blind. Srawana then advised that brought water to the presence of both parents. Dasarata has three wives, namely Kosalya, Sumitra and Kekayi. Long they are not blessed with a son, eventually led Dasarata held yadnya Srengga Resi. Of the ceremony, Dasarata obtain payasam containing holy water to be drunk by the queen. Kekayi Kosalya and took a drink, while Sumitra drink two times until the end. A few months later their first son Kosalya birth, and given the name of the Rama, the second is Kekayi that gave birth to Bharata, and Sumitra gave birth to twin sons and given Lakshman and Satrugna.
After aging, going down Dasarata throne and crowned as king Rama. Rama is the son of the first and most expected Dasarata. But his wish was rejected by Kekayi, the mother of Bharata. He wants to Bharata that Rama took the throne and exiled to the forest. Dasarata had to meet the demand for his youngest wife.
After the death of Rama wandered in the forest accompanied by Shinta, his wife and Lakshman, Dasarata sick. He was sad and felt guilty, he expressed remorse for all his life to Kosalya. In his grief, Dasarata died.
